First meeting of the Organizing Committee of the 1st European Games to be held in 2015 was held under the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s chairmanship, February 2.
A ceremony devoted to the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and France was held at the Salle Pleyel Palace of Paris, following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and with support from our country’s Embassy in France. First Lady of Azerbaijan, head of the Azerbaijani-French Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony.
A plenary session was held on the subject of “Women’s rights are human rights, and human rights are the right of women” within the Crans Montana Forum held in Baku, June 29.
A bilateral agreement was signed between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Vatican on restoration of Roman catacombs, June 22. The document was signed by First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and Cardinal Gianfranco Ravazi, the Minister of Culture of Vatican and chairman of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archaeology.
Solemn ceremony was held on the opening of the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, the 89th birthday of the national leader and the 8th anniversary of the establishment of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, 10 May. President Ilham Aliyev, his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva and family members attended the ceremony.
