President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attend the opening of the 12th Session of ISESCO General Conference

Opening of the 12^th Session of the General Conference of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) took place in Baku, November 26.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the First Lady, ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of the Session.

The Session’s opening ceremony was attended by high-level representatives of international organizations and foreign countries, ministers of culture and education, and diplomats.

The event started with reading of an ayah from Qur’an.

The Azerbaijani President addressed the opening ceremony.

President Ilham Aliyev presented a “Friendship” Order – one of the high state awards of Azerbaijan – to ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Al-Twaijri.

Speaking at the ceremony, ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Al-Twaijri thanked the President of Azerbaijan for conferring him on a high state order of the country.

Then an awarding ceremony took place. A Nigerian representative was awarded a “Literacy” Order of ISESCO for 2015. President Ilham Aliyev and Mehriban Aliyeva were photographed with representatives of the General Conference.

Then the Azerbaijani President and the First Lady talked with participants of the Conference.
